Why preview your grid?

Your profile grid is often a customer's first impression. Previewing posts together helps you balance colours, avoid repeating similar images side by side and keep a consistent look.

Instagram's profile grid uses a 3:4 crop

Instagram's profile grid now displays posts in a taller 3:4 shape. Posts uploaded at 4:5 or 1:1 can be trimmed in the grid view, so keep important text and faces centred. Use the crop switch to check.

Simple grid tips

  • Alternate close-ups with wider shots
  • Spread similar colours across the grid instead of clustering them
  • Keep text posts consistent in style so they look intentional
